3 Wittymaster (Y M Choi) -Jumped away very awkwardly, made heavy contact with the inside barrier partition and a short distance later shifted in and bumped 4 Whawei Spirit resulting in rider Y M Choi losing the use of his right stirrup iron. Raced wide without cover until the 1000 metres. Jockey Y M Choi who was unable to regain the use of his right stirrup iron was placed at a distinct disadvantage for the remainder of the race and was dislodged from his mount nearing the 400 metres. On return to scales Jockey Y M Choi reported that at no stage in the race was he able to regain his right stirrup iron and near the 500 metres his saddled had slipped causing him to become very unbalanced in the saddle until near the 400 metres where he was dislodged from his mount. Upon inspection of Jockey Choi’s saddle and stirrup irons which were found to be in a satisfactory condition, it was established that his right stirrup iron had broken which may have been contributed to the incident at the start. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards noted his explanation. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Jockey Y M Choi was examined by the Club’s Medical Officer and was passed fit to continue riding.
4 Whawei Spirit (H Lam) -Bumped by 3 Wittymaster on jumping away.
6 One From Many (F Henrique) -Was marginally slow to begin. Raced wide without cover until the 500 metres.
8 Satellite Boss (T Appie) -Near the 1500 metres momentarily raced in restricted room and was steadied between 7 Snowball and 2 Grateful Favors which was taken in by 4 Whawei Spirit which shifted in and away from 3 Wittymaster which shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider Y M Choi who had lost the use of his right stirrup iron. Considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards took no further action.
9 Full Score (S Nakano) -Trainer K H Leong was informed that 9 Full Score which had been beaten in excess of 26 lengths will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial.
10 Autumn Passage (C F Chan) - Trainer C F Chan was informed that 10 Autumn Passage which had been beaten in excess of 39 lengths will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality
