Race Report

RACE-1 THE OAMARU RATING 30-0 (CLASS 5&6) 1200 METRES (25)

1 Great River (K W Leong) –Trainer S H Cheong informed Stewards the gelding was to be ridden more forward today if circumstances permit. Raced ungenerously after jumping away, settling in worse than mid field. Performed below market expectations. Rider reported his mount raced erratically. A swab was ordered by the Stewards a post race veterinary examination performed which failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
2 Liver Pool (W H Lao)- Disappointing. Rider reported his mount could not keep up with the pace and failed to respond to his riding in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination was ordered by the Stewards failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
4 Nonpareil (W L Ho) –Trainer K M Chin informed to be ridden more forward today; Difficult to load. Trainer K M Chin was informed that a warning had been placed against the gelding and should it performed in a similar manner in future further action would be taken. Disappointing performance; Rider reported his mount made unusual respiratory noises throughout the race.
5 Active Power (L Corrales)-Rider explained that it was not his intention sit outside the leader today however his mount began very well and due to the lack of pace on the inside, he found himself in a more forward position that anticipated.
6 Mission Fortune (C Perkins) –Over raced during the early and middle stages. Near the 200 metres when weakening was checked when tightened for room between 3 Delight Consul and 10 Golden Cornered both of which shifted ground slightly.
7 My Eternal Flame (D Chong) Shifted out on jumping away making contact with 4 Nonpareil and as result became unbalanced.
9 My Target (A Calder) –Jumped away awkwardly, threw its head down and lost ground. Over raced in the early and middle stages when close to heels.
10 Golden Cornered (B Yamzon) –Jumped away awkwardly.
11 Concentration (K H Yu) –Raced three wide without cover.
12 Windsor Arch Two (C F Wong) –Stood flat footed when the gates were released and lost ground (1L). Rider reported his mount over raced.
