Race Report

RACE-4 THE WARWICK RATING 70+ (CLASS 1) 1050 METRES (82)

4 Sacred Hustler (A Calder) –A post race veterinary examination revealed that it was lame in the left front leg. Trainer J Lau was informed it will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until a veterinary clearance is produced.
5 Unbreakable (C Perkins) –Marginally slow to begin.
6 River Bobo (L Corrales) –After passing the 800 metres was steadied off the heels of 12 Yanson when racing keenly.
8 Easy Money (R Curatolo) –Raced wide throughout the event.
11 Gem Soldier (H Lam) –After jumping awkwardly became unbalanced when brushed by 8 Easy Money and 7 Korean Dream. Raced wide without cover.
12 Yanson (Apprentice K Y Wong) –The Stewards questioned rider K Y Wong regarding his tactics adopted on the gelding today, in particular as to why he allowed the favorite and the eventual winner a run to his inside near the 700 metres. He explained that running down the back straight he had look down his shoulder to the inside to establish whether he was clear to cross to a one off position to outside of the leader 1 Sino Brilhante (R Stewart), however shortly after he received a call from the rider of 2 Healthy Life (W L Ho) and he was concerned that if he continued to shift in to take up a position alongside the leader, 1 Sino Brilhante, he could cause interference to 2 Healthy Life. For this reason 2 Healthy Life was then able to shift out and obtain a run to the inside of his mount and to the outside of 1 Sino Brilhante near the 700 metres. The Stewards notified Apprentice K Y Wong that they had grave concerns with his ride, however, due to his inexperience they did not believe a charge was warranted on this occasion. This ride would be referred to the Master of Apprentices, Mr. H Troy and Apprentice Wong was advised that due to the frequency his rides had been referred to the Riding Skills Panel they would consider standing him down from race riding if he continued to show a lack of judgment during a race.
