Race Report

RACE-5 THE SANDOWN RATING 70-50 (CLASS 3) 1500 METRES (83)

1 Flaming Star (R Curatolo) –Jumped away awkwardly. The rider reported that his mount resented the kickback. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
2 Gauteng (Apprentice K Y Wong) –Raced keenly through the early and middle stages and was held up for some distance rounding the home turn before obtaining a clear run on the outside after straightening.
6 Easy To Rich (W H Lao) –Raced three wide without cover. Near the 300 metres was steadied when hampered by 3 Kelowna Star which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.
7 Chromium Alloy (H Lam) –Was slow to begin. Rider reported that his mount prefers the turf to the sand surface. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Apprentice K Y Wong the rider of 2 Gauteng was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that passing the winning post on the first occasion, he permitted his mount to shift in thereby dictating 10 Vigorous Momentum (W T Pao)i inwards which in turn took 7 Chromium Alloy (H Lam) inwards off its course which resulted in 1 Flaming Star (R Curatolo) losing its rightful running and having to be checked. Apprentice K Y Wong’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of two racemeetings covering the meetings of 4th and 11th December 2015. In arriving at penalty the Stewards took into account Apprentice Wong’s record, the degree of the interference and other mitigating circumstances. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
