Race Report

RACE-3 THE CHILE RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1500 METRES (214)
1 Horse Of The Day (R Curatolo) –Raced keenly rounding the turn near the 1200 metres.
2 Riches Treasure (L Corrales) -Performed below market expectations. Rider reported that gelding traveled well early however was one paced in the straight. He further added that the gelding may not have appreciated today’s firmer track. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
3 Magician Code (C Perkins) –For some distance approaching and passing the 400 metres was held up when unable to obtain a clear run.
4 Florence Elite (L Salles) –After passing the 300 metres had to be steadied when tightened for room between 8 Correio and 7 Sure Win, both of which shifted ground marginally. Was then shifted out abruptly to obtain clear running. Both Jockeys A Calder the rider of Correio and W H Lao the rider of Sure Win were informed to exercise more care when in similar circumstances in future.
5 Turquoise Lucky (C F Chan) –On jumping away had to be checked when tightened for room between 3 Magician Code which shifted in and 1 Horse Of The Day. Near the 1400 metres was severely hampered when awkwardly placed between 3 Magician Code and 11 Golden Harbour which shifted out slightly. Then shifted out abruptly taking 3 Magician Code out off its course. As a result of this incident both horses became unbalanced. Shortly after this 3 Magician Code, after having its hindquarters turned, shifted in and made contact with 5 Turquoise Lucky taking that gelding inwards. 3 Magician Code then laid in and had its hindquarters turned further after making contact on a number of occasions with 5 Turquoise Lucky. This resulted in 5 Turquoise Lucky being taken in across the heels of 9 Hit The Bull and having to be checked. Laid out for the majority of the race.
Poor performance. Rider reported that he could offer no real excuses for the gelding’s performance today. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
9 Hit The Bull (D Chong) –Was held up from the 500 metres until passing the 400 metres.
10 Mission Fame (W L Ho) –Over raced in the early and middle stages.
11 Golden Harbour (C F Wong) –Over the concluding stages had to be steadied when disappointed for a run between 7 Sure Win and 9 Hit The Bull which shifted out.
12 Modena Creation (J Cordero) –Jumped awkwardly, threw its head up and lost ground. Hung out throughout and as a result raced wide without cover. Rider said that after begin slowly away his mount, hung out throughout the event and failed to respond to his riding from the 400 metre mark. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainers C Marshall/K C Wong were informed that a warning had been placed on the gelding for its barrier and racing manners (hung out) and should it perform in a similar manner in future, further action may be taken.
