Race Report

RACE-2 THE SACRAMENTO RATING 30-0 (CLASS 6) 1050 METRES (262)

1 Beautiful Illusion (L Corrales) –After passing the 200 metres was steadied when disappointed for a run between 8 Best Double and 2 Glory Moment. Rider could not offer any real explanation for the disappointing performance today other than that his mount was carrying the top weight and he was caught wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. A swab sample was taken from the gelding for analysis.
4 Zirconium Alloy (H Lam) –Dipped when the gates were released and lost ground. Poor performance. Rider reported after a slow beginning, he was forced to make use of the gelding in the early stages to take up a forward position. He added that from the 600 metres, his mount was under pressure and in the home straight failed finish the race off as expected. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 Liver Pool (L Salles) –Shortly after the start shifted in and brushed 11 Shadow Master and as a result became unbalanced.
7 Explosive Blast (A Aucharuz) –Rider A Aucharuz was severely reprimanded for the manner in which he used his whip, in that he raised his arm over shoulder height for which he had been previously reprimanded. Trainer K M Chin was questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of the gelding today and also as to why it settled in the lead after it had settled towards the rear of the field at its most recent start. Trainer K M Chin explained that he did not instruct the rider to lead, however 7 Explosive Blast had jumped very well today and took up a forward position easily. He added that the gelding had been working very well in the lead up to today’s event and he was confident of a forward showing. He also highlighted that at its most recent run on the 30 April 2016 the jockey’s iron broke during the race which placed his rider at a disadvantage on that day. Mr. Chin’s comments were noted.
8 Best Double (A Calder) – Prior to the event, Trainer M C Tam informed the Stewards that he would instruct Jockey A Calder to endeavour to lead if possible, today. Was unable to muster sufficient speed to lead, settled just the leaders and was trapped four wide without cover throughout.
9 I'm Unique (W L Ho) – Over raced through the middle stages and was then steadied near the 600 metres when tightened between 11 Shadow Master and 2 Glory Moment which shifted in when laying in. After passing the 300 metres was disappointed for a run between 1 Beautiful Illusion and 2 Glory Moment which shifted out. After passing the 200 metres was steadied when again disappointed for a run between 1 Beautiful Illusion and 2 Glory Moment.
10 Macau Health (R Curatolo) - Jumped away awkwardly. Rider reported that near the 800 metres his foot slipped in the iron and he had to readjust his stirrup iron.
