Race Report

RACE-2 THE MONTE DA GUIA RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1500 METRES (2)

1 River Colour (M Cangas) – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on 1 River Colour, in particular the reasons for it leading, Jockey M Cangas stated that he was instructed to get a good jump, to give his horse a dig and to take up the lead position. Trainer S H Cheong confirmed the instructions and explained that they were consistent to those given to the jockey at the gelding’s previous starts. He added that on those occasions the gelding was unable to take up the lead position. The Stewards accepted both explanations.
2 Flying Team (L Corrales) –Was slow to begin.
4 Florence Elite (B Yamzon) –Performed below market expectations. Rider reported that his mount travelled well throughout out, however failed to respond to his riding from the 400 metres. He added that in his opinion the gelding is better suited on a softer track and in races of a lower class.
A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 Beauty Of Victory (A Aucharuz) –Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
7 Golden Commandment (W H Lao) –Jumped awkwardly.
8 Turquoise Heart (C Perkins) –Jumped awkwardly. Raced three wide without cover throughout the event.
10 Priceless Treasure (C F Chan) –Was tightened for room on jumping away between 11 Turquoise Lucky which bounded in the air and jumped outwards and 4 Florence Elite which shifted in slightly.
11 Turquoise Lucky (Y M Choi) –Near 200 metres was disappointed for a run between 8 Turquoise Heart and 12 Four Season Health, both of which shifted ground marginally. As a result was obliged to shift in to obtain clear running.
12 Four Season Health (W Smith) –Was slow to begin. Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the race.
