Race Report

RACE-2 THE RUBY RATING SPECIAL (SPECIAL) 1050 METRES (50)

1 Happy Alloy (H Lam) –Raced wide without cover throughout. Performed below market expectations. Jockey reported his mount traveled well however failed to run on in the home straight. He added he reported to the connections that in his opinion 1 Happy Alloy had come to the end of its preparation. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
3 Impeccable Genius (C F Chan) –Raced wide rounding the home turn.
5 Hey Hey Companion (A Calder) –Was slow to begin.
7 Zirconium Alloy (W Smith) –Tightened for room on jumping away between 8 Active Power and 9 Big Fortress which was taken in by 3 Impeccable Genius. Performed below market expectations. Jockey W Smith reported his mount traveled comfortably throughout and when placed under pressure at the top of the straight responded well, however, added the gelding’s run had finished at the 200 metres and compounded from this point. He further added he reported to connections that in his opinion 7 Zirconium Alloy had come to the end of its preparation. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
8 Active Power (A Aucharuz) –Jumped awkwardly. The Stewards questioned Jockey A Aucharuz in regards to his vigor in the home straight whereby he failed to use the whip. Jockey A Aucharuz explained that in the early and middle stages his mount was not traveling comfortably and began to lose ground. He added rounding the home turn the gelding was not responding to his riding so he elected to ride his mount hands and heels in the home straight whereby 8 Active Power finished the race off only fairly. He further added in his opinion 8 Active Power did not handle the quick back up from racing last week. After considering all of the evidence, the Stewards issued Jockey A Aucharuz with a severe reprimand and advised him that he should have applied the whip as to fully test the horse. He was further advised that he is to ensure that he rides all his mounts in such a manner as to leave no room for query.
9 Big Fortress (K H Yu) – Trainer S H Cheong advised Stewards that he will be instructing Jockey K H Yu to have the gelding in a handy position should circumstances permit. Obtained the lead position.
