Race Report

RACE-2 THE ROCHDALE RATING 40-0 (CLASS 5&6) 1800 METRES (85)

1 Lucky And Powerful (K H Yu) - A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Beaten in excess 25 lengths. Trainer J M Moore is required to present the gelding to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 31st December 2017. In addition 1 Lucky And Powerful will not be permitted to race for 11 days until it has performed satisfactorily in an official Barrier Trial.
2 Haayil Shadow (L Corrales) - A post veterinary examination reported that the gelding cast its left hind plate.
3 Magician Code (W L Ho) - At the 100 metres was disappointed for a run and checked when 4 My Fortune Star shifted out under pressure. A post race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was found to be lame in right foreleg. Trainer G Allendorf was informed that 3 Magician Code will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until a veterinary clearance is produced.
4 My Fortune Star (K K Lai) - At the 100 metres shifted out. Trainer K M Chin is required to present the gelding to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 31st December 2017.
8 St Vaduz (A Calder) - After being reshod at the barrier was checked by the veterinary surgeon and passed it fit to race.
10 Dynamaster (H Lam) - Was slow into stride and shortly after was crowded between 4 My Fortune Star and 1 Lucky And Powerful.
11 Fortune Smiles (Y M Choi) - in the middle stages over raced and pulled hard.
12 Impeccable Choice (W Smith) - At the start threw its head up.
14 Shadow Master (M Belli) - A post race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was found to be lame in right foreleg. Trainer S Chow was informed that 14 Shadow Master will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until a veterinary clearance is produced.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into the incident at the 100 metres 4 My Fortune Star (K K Lai) shifted out. Jockey K K Lai the rider of 4 My Fortune Star pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that at the 100 metres was riding along he allowed his mount 4 My Fortune to shift out when not clear of 3 Magician Code which checked and lost ground Jockey K K Lai was fined the sum of HK$7,000. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account his good record, his guilty plea and the severity of the interference. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
