Race Report

RACE-3 THE GEELONG RATING 100-70 (CLASS 1&2) 1050 METRES (21)

1 Fasuba (R Maia) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Rider reported as the gelding had to carry top weight of 133lbs and after having to work hard early from the wide draw to obtain the lead position, he was satisfied with the performance.
2 China Paradise (W L Ho) - Knuckled on jumping away and shifted in abruptly after the start. Rider reported that after knuckling at the start he had to make use of the gelding in the early stages to take up a forward position and in his opinion this contributed to 2 China Paradise tiring over the concluding stages.
3 Victory Megastar (L Corrales) - Raced wide without cover throughout.
4 Winter Snow (K H Yu) -Rider reported that shortly after the start the saddle shifted to the left and was quite loose. As a result he had difficulty placing the gelding under pressure from the 600 metres until entering the home straight. The Stewards noted his explanation. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 Bow Noculars (W Smith) - Hung in near the 700 metres.
6 River Control (K Leung) -Was inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
7 Gem Eagle (H Lam) -Jumped awkwardly.
8 Golden Thumb (Apprentice C L Cheung) -Hampered on jumping away by 2 China Paradise which knuckled on jumping away and shifted in. Shortly after the start was steadied momentarily to avoid the heels of 2 China Paradise which continued to shift in. Jockey W L Ho the rider of 2 China Paradise was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Near the 700 metres was eased off the heels of 5 Bow Noculars which hung in and away of 7 Gem Eagle.
11 Capital Protector (Y M Choi) -Was slow to begin and was then tightened for room between 4 Winter Snow which shifted out and 8 Golden Thumb which was taken in by 2 China Paradise which knuckled on jumping away and shifted in. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
