Race Report

RACE-5 THE ADMIRALTY RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1200 METRES (167)

3 Grateful Favors (H Lam) -Jumped awkwardly and shortly after the start was crowded for room between 7 Tron Friend which shifted in and 10 Lucky Mate which was taken out slightly by 2 Capital Protector which in turn was taken out by 11 Cheerful Fish which jumped away awkwardly and shifted out.
4 Chapman Way (K Leung) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 Diva Achiever (O Chavez) -Near the 700 metres was eased when momentarily racing in restricted room to the inside of 11 Cheerful Fish. Rider reported that near the 600 metres he had difficulty with his right stirrup leather in particular with the clasp and the leather strap which placed him in an awkward position in the saddle. He explained from the 500 metres until near the 300 metres he made several attempts with his right hand to readjust his gear as he was severely unbalanced in the saddle. After inspecting his saddle and gear immediately after the race, which were found to be in a satisfactory condition, and considering all of the circumstance, the Stewards noted his explanation. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
7 Tron Friend (W L Ho) -Raced wide without cover throughout.
8 Danny Choice (Apprentice C L Cheung) -Made the turn near the 700 metres awkwardly.
9 Wealthy East (B Yamzon) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
11 Cheerful Fish (S Nakano) -Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out. Near the 900 metres had to be steadied when tightened for room by 9 Wealthy East which shifted in when not quite clear. Jockey B Yamzon the rider of 9 Wealthy East was issued with a severe reprimand and advised that he is to ensure he is sufficiently clear of all runners when shifting ground in future. Near the 250 metres momentarily raced in restricted room between 2 Capital Protector and 8 Danny Choice both of which shifted ground slightly. Jockey S Nakano was fined the sum of HKD$5000 for failing to ride his mount out fully to the winning post.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Jockey S Nakano the rider of 11 Cheerful Fish pleaded guilty to a charge under MJC 14 (xvii) (a) for negligence in that over the concluding stages he failed to ride his mount 11 Cheerful Fish out fully to the winning post. Jockey S Nakano was fined the sum of HK$5,000. In accessing penalty, the Stewards were satisfied that it had cost 11 Cheerful Fish 4th placing. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
