Race Report
RACE-3 THE VANCOUVER RATING 95-70 (CLASS 1&2) 1200 METRES (297)

1 Sacred Capital (W L Ho) - Prior to the race Trainer J Lau in the presence of Jockey W L Ho advised the Stewards that due to the speed of runners drawn to its inside, from the wide draw he would be instructing Jockey W L Ho to attempt to settle 1 Sacred Capital in a rearward position should circumstances permit. Shortly after the start was shifted in across runners to obtain a position on the running rail. Leaving the 400 metres was held up on the heels of 3 Golden Thumb and was unable to establish clear running until near the 250 metres where it was shifted out around the heels of 2 Striking Achiever and made contact with 10 Californiatreasure. Jockey W L Ho reported as per his instructions prior to the race, from the wide draw he was able to find a position on the running rail just worse than midfield. He added 1 Sacred Capital travelled strongly, however from the 600 metres 10 Californiatreasure improved to his outside resulting in his mount being held up on the heels of 3 Golden Thumb and had no opportunity to improve his position. He added that on entering the home straight he continued to be held up until near the 250 metres where he had to shift out abruptly around the heels of 2 Striking Achiever to establish clear running however added that when placed under pressure 1 Sacred Capital finished the race off only fairly. He further added that in his opinion 1 Sacred Capital which was first up from a spell since the 3rd of March will benefit from today’s run. After considering all of the evidence, the Stewards noted his explanation. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
2 Striking Achiever (J B Hamel) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
3 Golden Thumb (Apprentice C L Cheung) -A post race veterinary examination revealed it was lame in the right foreleg. Trainers K C Tse/K S Ho were informed that 3 Golden Thumb will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that a veterinary certificate is produced.
7 Fortune Treasure (Y M Choi) -As the Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that Jockey Y M Choi had made a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post, they took no further action.
8 Emperor King (K Leung) -Reared on jumping away. Raced wide without cover throughout. Bumped by 10 rounding the home turn. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
9 Who Dat Singa (K Mizuno) -Stood flat footed when the start was effected and lost considerable ground. Trainer M C Tam was advised that a warning was issued due to the gelding’s barrier manners. A post race veterinary examination revealed it was lame in the right foreleg. Trainer M C Tam was informed that 9 Who Dat Singa will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that a veterinary certificate is produced.
10 Californiatreasure (H Lam) -Bumped by 8 Emperor King rounding the home turn. Near the 250 metres was bumped by 1 Sacred Capital which shifted out around the heels of 2 Striking Achiever to improve.
