Race Report

RACE-3 THE HAN SHUI RATING 85-55 (CLASS 2) 1800 METRES (188)

1 Hostwin Epanoui (F Henrique) -Raced wide without cover from the 700 metres. A post race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was severely lame in the left foreleg. Trainer Y C Fung was informed that 1 Hostwin Epanoui will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed in an official Barrier Trial and a veterinary certificate is produced.
2 Nuclear Fusion (W L Ho) -Was slow to begin. Raced wide rounding the home turn. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
4 Royal Garden (B Yamzon) - Leaving the 1500 metres was bumped by 1 Hostwin Epanoui which was taken out by 5 Krystrump which when racing fiercely hung out. Thereafter raced wide without cover until being allowed to stride forward and obtain the position outside the leader leaving the 800 metres.
5 Krystrump (T Appie) -Raced fiercely in the early and middle stages. Over the concluding stages was checked.
6 Qian Gua (K H Yu) -Was reshod behind the barriers, subsequently underwent a veterinary examination and was passed fit to race. Rider reported that his mount was not striding freely in the early stages and as a result settled further back than he had anticipated.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Following the running of the race the “Enquiry” sign was semaphored to allow the Stewards an opportunity to review the patrol films of the concluding stages where 5 Krystrump (T Appie) was checked. After considering all the circumstances and where the incident took place in relation to the winning post, the Stewards were satisfied that there were insufficient grounds for an objection and correct weight was declared on the Judge’s placings.

The Stewards inquired into an incident whereby 5 Krystrump was checked over the concluding stages. Evidence was taken from the riders of 1 Hostwin Epanoui (F Henrique) and 5 Krystrump (T Appie). Jockey F Henrique the rider of 1 Hostwin Epanoui pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that over the concluding stages he permitted his mount to shift out whilst riding it along when insufficiently clear of 5 Krystrump which had to be checked and lost its rightful running. Jockey F Henrique’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of two racemeetings covering the meetings of Friday, 7 May and Sunday 9 May 2021. In arriving at penalty the Stewards took into account his guilty plea, his disciplinary record and the degree of interference. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
