Race Report

RACE-4 THE HUAINAN RATING 60-35 (CLASS 3&4) 1200 METRES (189)

1 For Community (D Barros) -Leaving the 1000 metres was checked.
2 Hostwin Achilles (F Henrique) -Leaving the 1000 metres was hampered. Near the 700 metres commenced to race fiercely and had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of 4 Pursuing Eagle.
3 Casino Mok (K H Yu) -Leaving the 1000 metres was checked.
4 Pursuing Eagle (W L Ho) -Was inclined to lay out under pressure in the home straight. Cast its right hind plate.
5 Roaring Fans (C L Cheung) -Was inclined to lay out under pressure in the home straight.
6 Thar (L Corrales) -Leaving the 1000 metres was checked and lost its rightful running. A post race veterinary examination at the request of the rider failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
7 Vibrant City (T Appie) -Jumped away awkwardly and shortly after the start was buffeted between 8 Go Fish Go and 6 Thar. Leaving the 1000 metres was hampered.
9 Northern Legend (S Ladjadj) -Raced wide without cover throughout. Hung out rounding the home turn. Rider reported that during the race his mount was difficult to control due to his mount not responding to the bit and as he had concerns, he elected not to place it under pressure in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident leaving the 1000 metres. Evidence was taken from the riders of 1 For Community (D Barros), 2 Hostwin Achilles (F Henrique), 3 Casino Mok (K H Yu), 4 Pursuing Eagle (W L Ho) and 6 Thar (L Corrales). Jockey W L Ho the rider of 4 Pursuing Eagle pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that leaving the 1000 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 3 Casino Mok which had to be checked and was taken in onto 6 Thar which in turn had to be checked and shifted in hampering 2 Hostwin Achilles. In this incident 6 Thar lost its rightful running resulting 1 For Community which was following having to be checked in consequence. Jockey W L Ho’s license to ride in races was suspended for three racemeetings to cover the meetings of Saturday, 22 May and Friday, 28 May and Saturday, 5 June 2021. In arriving at penalty the Stewards took into account his guilty plea, his disciplinary record and the degree of interference. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
