RACE-3 CHAIRMAN'S CHALLENGE CUP (GROUP 1) OPEN 1200 METRES (300)

3 Out To Win (C L Cheung) - Brushed the side of the barrier stall on jumping and lost a little ground.
4 Bygone Era (K H Yu) - After passing the 1100 metres, rolled out slightly and had to be steadied when close to heels of 1 Star Of Yiu Cheung. Shifted out in the early part of the straight, taking 1 Star Of Yiu Cheung wider.
5 Gon Sai Baau (Apprentice A Liu) - Returning to scale having cast its right front plate.
8 Yulong Command (M Tanaka) - The Stewards questioned M Tanaka regarding the tactics he adopted on 8 Yulong Command and in particular if he could have crossed 11 Famous Jonathn to take the lead after racing forward of that gelding in the early stages. He explained that 8 Yulong Command had two previous runs in Macau and both times it had led easily before compounding very quickly in the straight. He said for this reason the instructions were to attempt to settle behind the leader if possible, and with the anticipation that 8 Yulong Command may then be able to finish off the event. He said that he did consider whether to push forward to cross 11 Famous Jonathn, however bearing in mind the instructions and the previous starts he elected instead to settle his mount to the outside of that gelding. He said 8 Yulong Command dropped the bit around the 700 metres and was a beaten horse from that point and was disappointing in his opinion. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer K M Chin was informed that he would be required to present 8 Yulong Command to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination and endoscopic examination on Monday, 31 July 2023.
