RACE-1 THE LION ROCK (SAND) RATING 55-0 (SPECIAL) 1350 METRES (302)

2 Hongkong Winepro (C Perkins)–Prior to correct weight, the connections of 2 Hongkong Winepro the 3rd place getter, viewed the patrol video before deciding not to lodge an objection. The Stewards were also satisfied that there were insufficient grounds for an objection. On jumping away was brushed by 4 Gold Selection and became unbalanced. At the 200 metres was disappointed for a run between 5 Gold And Silver and 1 Holy Ascension before changing course to the outside of 1 Holy Ascension to obtain clear running.
3 Lucky And Healthy (A Calder) – Near the 350 metres was inconvenienced and had to be shifted to the outside of 8 Truly Heart which had sustained an injury. Performed below market expectations. Rider reported that the gelding never travelled comfortably and when placed under pressure in the home straight failed to run on as expected and in his opinion was disappointing. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. A swab sample was taken for analysis.
4 Gold Selection (R Curatolo) –Jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and brushed 2 Hongkong Winepro and as a result lost ground.
5 Gold And Silver (L Corrales) –Raced keenly through the middle stages.
6 Win Perfectly (L Salles) –Raced keenly through the middle stages.
7 Modena Success (W Smith) –Was marginally slow to begin.
8 Truly Heart (H Lam) –Raced four wide without cover. Broke down at the entrance into the straight and was eased out of the event. Sustained a fracture to its right foreleg and was subsequently humanely euthanased.
9 Kao's Star (K H Yu) –Raced four wide without cover. Laid out rounding the home turn and at the entrance into the straight was steadied to avoid the heels of 3 Lucky And Healthy which had shifted out when avoiding the heels of 8 Truly Heart. Rider was unable to offer any tangible explanation for the poor performance tonight. Trainer S Chow was informed that 9 Kao's Star which had been beaten 42 lengths will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed satisfactorily in an official Barrier Trial.
