Race Report

RACE-5 THE CHEPSTOW (TURF) RATING 30-0 (CLASS 6) 1200 METRES (384)

3 St Kitts (A Calder) – Performed below market expectations. Rider reported his mount had failed to handle today’s track conditions. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. A post race sample was taken from the gelding for analysis.
4 Super Amazing Hero (M Cangas) –Bounded in the air when the gates were released.
A post race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was severely lame in the right foreleg. Trainer M C Tam was informed that the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has passed an official Barrier Trial and a veterinary clearance is produced.
6 Tous Sweet (R Curatolo) – Trainer J M Moore was issued with a HK$1000 fine for presenting the horse with incorrect gear.
9 Active Power (A Aucharuz) – Performed below market expectations. Rider reported that his mount did not handle today’s track condition. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
12 Rockin Laser (L Salles) –After jumping away was buffeted between 5 Rosary Diamond and 2 River Dream both of which shifted ground.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Jockey J Cordero the rider of 1 Explosive Blast pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of MJC Rule 132 (i) in that he permitted his mount to shift in near the 1000 metres when insufficiently clear of 2 River Dream (K H Yu) which had to be restrained to avoid the heels of 1 Explosive Blast and shifted outwards off its course. Jockey J Cordero’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of two racemeetings, to be served as the first two meetings of the new Racing Season. In arriving at penalty the Stewards took into account his good record, his plea and the degree of carelessness and the severity of the interference. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
