Race Report

RACE-1 THE KWANGSI RATING 30-0 (CLASS 5&6) 1500 METRES (49)

1 Cheerful Companion (L Corrales) –Shifted out on jumping away and made contact with 6 Great River. Near the 400 metres had to be steadied to avoid the heels of 8 Twiningoceanstarbo which shifted in slightly. The rider was unable to offer any real explanation for the disappointing performance today. A post race veterinary examination ordered by the Stewards failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
2 Far Reaching (L Salles) –Disappointing. A swab was taken from the gelding and a post race veterinary examination ordered by the Stewards revealed that it had suffered a bleeding attack.
3 Sandy Beach (Apprentice K Y Wong) –Was slow to begin (1L). Raced wide without cover until nearing the 700 metres. Disappointing. A post race veterinary examination ordered by the Stewards failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Apprentice K Y Wong was spoken to advisedly of his action near the 1200 metres when he had the opportunity to obtain a position on the rail however shifted out resulting in him being caught wide. This ride will be referred to the Master of Apprentices, Mr. H Troy.
5 Delight Consul (W L Ho) –Jumped awkwardly and lost some ground.
6 Great River (W T Pao) –Shifted in on jumping away and made contact with 1 Cheerful Companion.
7 Smart Ebony (B Yamzon) –At the turn near the 1200 metres was inconvenienced by 3 Sandy Beach which shifted out.
9 Mission Fortune (C Perkins) –Over raced in the early stages. Rider reported that his mount failed to respond to his riding in straight. Disappointing. A post race veterinary examination ordered by the Stewards revealed that it was making respiratory noises.
12 Windsor Arch Two (C F Wong) –Was slow to begin.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Apprentice K Y Wong the rider of 3 Sandy Beach pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near 100 metres after being disappointed for a run between 2 Far Reaching (L Salles) and 4 Power Savabeel (A Calder) he permitted his mount to shifted out resulting in 5 Delight Consul (W L Ho) being taken out off its course and having to be checked over the heels of 12 Windsor Arch Two (C F Wong). Apprentice K Y Wong’s lience to ride in races was suspended for a period of two racemeetings covering the meeting of 13th and 15th November 2015. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account his inexperience and the mitigating circumstance. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
