Race Report

RACE-4 THE CHILE RATING 70-50 (CLASS 2&3) 1050 METRES (160)

1 Vescer (D Barros) -Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout and had a tendency to lay in in the home straight.
2 Maryknoll Winner (W H Lao) -Jumped away awkwardly. Rider reported that his mount was inclined to hang out badly throughout the race and proved difficult to control. He added that leaving the 600 metres he had to correct his mount to prevent it from running off the track and as a result he was unable to place 2 Maryknoll Winner under pressure and added that rounding the home turn his mount continued to hang out badly making the home turn wide. He further added that in the home straight he rode his mount hands and heels until near the 150 metres where he then applied the whip, however 2 Maryknoll Winner continued to hang out and as a result he again had to take hold of his mount with 2 Maryknoll Winner then going to the line without being fully tested. The Stewards noted his explanation. After taking into consideration the racing manners of 2 Maryknoll Winner today and its history of wanting to hang badly in its races, Trainer K S Wong was informed that 2 Maryknoll Winner will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has passed an official Barrier Trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards.
3 Crispy Biscuit (H Lam) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
4 The Happy Prince (S Nakano) -A post race veterinary examination revealed that it was lame in the left foreleg. Trainer M C Tam was informed that 4 The Happy Prince will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until a veterinary clearance is produced.
5 Hostwin Shadow (J B Hamel) -Bumped with 7 Thehorseiswithme shortly after the start.
7 Thehorseiswithme (K H Yu) -Bumped with 5 Hostwin Shadow shortly after the start.
8 Imperial Eagle (F Henrique) -Raced wide without cover throughout.
9 Striking Brahma (L Corrales) -Rider reported that the gelding had been working well during trackwork leading up to today’s race and he had been instructed to lead if possible or if the tempo is fast in the early stages to obtain a position in behind the speed. He stated 9 Striking Brahma traveled well in race and was able to trail 7 Thehorseiswithme, however approaching the home turn when he asked 9 Striking Brahma to improve, the gelding was left flat footed, was one paced in the home straight and in his opinion was disappointing. He further added that after the race he advised Trainer K M Chin that in his opinion, 9 Striking Brahma would be better placed back on the turf track. A post race swab sample was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
