RACE-2 THE HAMAMATSU RATING 70-50 (CLASS 2&3) 1350 METRES (179)

5 Hostwin Aurora (Apprentice X C Liang) - Refused to jump when the gates were released and lost significant ground. Tailed the field despite the urgings of its rider before making some ground in the straight. Trainer Y C Fung was informed that the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial.
6 Sheng Tong Express (M Tanaka) - As the gates were released, when being assisted by a barrier attendant, turned its head to the right side and lost ground (1L). Shortly after the start, shifted in and had to be steadied out away from heels of 4 Military Strongman. Performed below market expectations. Rider stated his mount made an unusual respiratory noise. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer W K Lam was informed that he would be required to present 6 Sheng Tong Express to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination and to include an endoscopic examination on Saturday, 1 April 2023.
