Race Report

RACE-2 THE SUNFLOWER RATING 55-0 (CLASS 4,5&6) 1200 METRES (14)

3 Show Smart (W Smith) –Was marginally slow to begin.
4 Iron Alloy (C F Wong) –Led and compounded in the straight; When questioned as to why he set such a strong pace today, rider C F Wong explained that when he had ridden 4 Iron Alloy previously it had a tendency to get its head up and over race and for this reason he was reluctant to restrain the gelding today and elected to let it stride. He added that the gelding did not appreciate today’s track conditions. The Stewards notified C F Wong that whilst taking into account that the horse may over race on occasions, he would be expected in future to show greater judgment when in similar circumstances and make some attempts to steady his mount early in the race so that they have the opportunity to finish off their races. A post race veterinary examination was ordered by the Stewards.
6 Nam Kee's Treasure (W T Pao) – The gelding which was having its first start today perfomed below market expectations; Rider reported his mount did respond to his riding when placed under pressure; A post race veterinary examination was ordered by the Stewards.
8 Beauty Of Victory (Apprentice Y M Choi) –Inside the 100 metres shifted out abruptly on a number of occasions under pressure inconveniencing 6 Nam Kee's Treasure and 3 Show Smart.
10 Great River (K W Leong) –Was marginally slow to begin and then became unbalanced when brushed by 1 Happy Cash which shifted out.

VETERINARY:
4 Iron Alloy (C F Wong) –A post race veterinary examination of 4 Iron Alloy which performed poorly failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 Nam Kee's Treasure (W T Pao) –A post race veterinary examination of 6 Nam Kee's Treasure which performed below market expectations failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
