Race Report

RACE-5 THE PORTO ALEGRE RATING 70-50 (CLASS 3) 1050 METRES (161)

1 Brave Rhino (Apprentice K Y Wong) – When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of 1 Brave Rhino tonight, Trainer Y C Fung explained that the gelding had been working very well in the lead up to the race and that the big drop in weight and class had benefitted the gelding tonight.
2 Lovely Boy (C Perkins) –Jumped awkwardly, unbalancing its rider and lost ground.
5 Rose Treasure (L Corrales) –Performed below market expectations. Rider explained that his mount travelled well throughout the event, however failed to respond as he would have expected when placed under pressure. He added that he would expect the colt to improve with tonight’s run.
7 The Riddle (M Cangas) – Late scratching at 10:07pm when the gelding was reluctant to proceed to barrier, fell dislodging its rider. Trainer K H Leong was informed that the gelding will not be permitted to race again for 11 days and until it has performed in an official barrier trial at which time it must be ridden to the barriers and may only be assisted by the Clerk of the course.
8 Tuhao Power (W L Ho) –Shortly after the start was hampered when tightened for room between 5 Rose Treasure and 11 The Mighty, both of which shifted ground.
9 Woodney (A Calder) – Disappointing. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
11 The Mighty (Apprentice Y M Choi) –Shortly after the start became unbalanced after making contact with 8 Tuhao Power.
