Race Report

RACE-4 THE RECIFE RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1350 METRES (160)

2 Macau Spring (C Perkins) –Was vetted prior to the race following an incident in the tie up stall and was passed fit to start.
6 Hanigan (C F Chan) –Raced very ungenerously in the early stages, shifted in and inconvenienced 7 Blaze Smartie. When being straightened by its rider then shifted out and bumped 10 Turquoise Heart resulting in its rider becoming unbalanced.
8 Rosary Diamond (Apprentice Y M Choi) –When questioned as to the tactics adopted on 8 Rosary Diamond which settled further back tonight compared to its usual racing pattern, Apprentice Y M Choi explained that he urged his mount along early, however it lacked the speed to go forward and running into the back straight it was not responding to his riding. He then allowed the gelding to settle in an attempt to get it up on the bit. He added that he commenced to ride 8 Rosary Diamond along from the 600 mtres however it was laying out proving difficult to ride and when he was able to place his mount under pressure in the straight it failed to respond to his riding.
10 Turquoise Heart (A Calder) –On jumping away was hampered and made contact with 3 Sharon Star when taken out by 9 Shame On You which shifted out. Near the 1250 metres was bumped by 6 Hanigan and became unbalanced.
11 Nam Kee’S Treasure (W T Pao) –Rider reported that his saddle shifted during the course of the race.
12 Rider Navigator (W L Ho) – Performed below market expectations. Rider reported his mount travelled well throughout the race, however was a beaten horse from the 400 metres when the pace quickened. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
