Race Report

RACE-6 THE MANILA RATING 85-50 (CLASS 2,3&4) 1200 METRES (343)

Following the running of Race 6, Jockey K W Leong who was suffering from back pain was examined by the Club’s Medical Officer and was stood down from further riding engagements. Subsequently the Stewards gave permission for Jockey J Cordero to be substituted as the rider of 5 Korean Dream.

1 Sweet Korean (R Curatolo) –Reared as the gates were released and was then bumped by 6 My Lucky Baby which shifted out.
2 Red Dragon (K K Lai) –Rider reported that his mount hung badly and did not feel right in its action and this was the reason he eased it out of the race in the straight. A post race veterinary examination failed to revealed any significant abnormality. Trainer J W Moore was informed that the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial.
3 Unbreakable (W Smith) –Near the 200 metres was inconvenienced by 6 My Lucky Baby 6 which shifted out when not quite clear.
6 My Lucky Baby (B Yamzon) –For a short distance after jumping away was placed in restricted room between 1 Sweet Korean and 3 Unbreakable which shifted out.
8 Happy Bunny (K H Yu) –When questioned as to why he established such a large break in the middle stages on the rest of the field, Jockey K H Yu explained that his mount commenced very well, thereafter raced extremely fiercely and he was unable to hold it any slower. He added that in his opinion 8 Happy Bunny does not run out a strong 1200 metres and is better suited over the shorter sprint distances.
