Race Report

RACE-3 THE TACLOBAN RATING 45-25 (CLASS 4&5) 1500 METRES (340)

2 Four Season Health (W H Lao) –Raced four wide without cover. Performed below market expectations. Rider was unable to offer any real explanation for the performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
4 So Happy (L Corrales) –Raced three wide without cover. A swab sample was taken from the gelding for analysis and a post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 Victory Achiever (A Aucharuz) – Trainer K M Chin informed the Stewards that from the wide alley today, he would instruct the rider to attempt to settled his mount back with cover to enable it to finish off the event. Ridden accordingly.
7 Bowl Lucky (W L Ho) –Had tendency to lay out in the straight and near 100 metres became unbalanced and had its hindquarters turned after suffering interference.
8 Luen Yat Command (L Salles) –At the 800 metres had to be steadied when awkwardly placed between heels.
11 Mission Fame (K K Lai) - Over raced for some distance after passing the 1200 metres. Approaching the 800 metres had to be checked off the heels of 3 Golden Warrior which was being restrained.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Jockey K H Yu the rider of 5 Rivers Elite pleaded guilty to charge of careless riding under the provisions of MJC Rule 132 (i) in that he allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 2 Four Season Health (W H Lao) resulting in that gelding having to be checked, and shifted inwards making heavy contact with 4 So Happy (L Corrales) which was taken in across the heels of 7 Bowl Lucky (W L Ho). As a result of this 4 So Happy clipped the heels of 7 Bowl Lucky and blundered badly almost dislodging its rider. In laying the charge, the Stewards acknowledged that 4 So Happy shifted out slightly and brushed 2 Four Season Health prior to the incident and that 7 Bowl Lucky did have a tendency to lay out. Jockey K H Yu’s licence to ride was suspended for a period of two racemeetings to cover the meetings of 30th and 31st July 2016. In arriving at penalty the Stewards took into account his guilty plea, his good record, the degree of carelessness and the severity of the incident. He was advised of his Right of Appeal. During this incident Jockey L Corrales the rider of 4 So Happy lost the use of his stirrup irons.
