Race Report

RACE-5 THE VICTORIA RATING 55-25 (CLASS 4) 1800 METRES (396)
2 Lucky And Fortune (L Corrales) –Disappointing performance. Rider reported that his mount was one paced throughout and may have come to the end of its preparation. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality
3 Haayil Shadow (K H Yu) –Commenced to over race after passing the crossing near the 1400 metres and had to be restrained off heels when the pace steadied. Jockey K H Yu explained that near the 1000 metres when the pace steadied, he was disappointed for a run between 5 Priceless Treasure and 11 and as a result ended up settling further back than he had anticipated. Was held up when unable to improve for some distance rounding the home turn.
5 Priceless Treasure (H Lam) –Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.
6 Turquoise Heart (A Calder) –Over raced for a short distance near the 1100 metres distance.
7 Golden Commandment (W H Lao) –Was slow to begin. Performed below market expectations. Rider reported that in his opinion his mount is better suited to races over a shorter distance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
8 Riches Treasure (R Curatolo) –For some distance passing the 500 metres was held up.
9 Windsor Arch Three (C F Chan) –At the winning post on the first occasion had to be steadied to avoid the heels of 3 Haayil Shadow which was taken out slightly by 5 Priceless Treasure.
10 Fortune Smiles (J Cordero) –Raced very wide without cover.
12 Laughing World (B Yamzon) –Raced three wide before obtaining cover near the 800 metres. Poor performance. Rider reported that his mount travelled comfortably until the 600 metres, however was immediately under pressure and failed to respond to his riding thereafter. .A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. A post race swab sample was taken from the gelding for analysis. Trainer K C Chong was informed that the gelding which had been beaten in excess of 33 lengths will not be permitted to race until it has performed in an official barrier trial and at which time it must be competitive.
