Race Report

RACE-6 THE COLINA DA PENHA RATING 70-50 (CLASS 2&3) 1500 METRES (6)

2 Happy Fish (Y M Choi) –Leaving the 1100 metres was buffeted for a short distance between 9 Dengcheng One and 7 Northern Lightning which shifted out slightly.
3 Tuhao Power (B Yamzon) –Reared as the gates opened.
4 Machmaster (C F Chan) –Was slow to begin. Approaching the 800 metres over raced and was steadied off the heels of 2 Happy Fish. Thereafter continued to race ungenerously for a short distance.
6 Horse Of The Day (K W Leong) –Disappointing performance. Rider reported that when he place his mount under pressure in the home straight, it compounded badly. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainers K C Tse/C Marshall were informed to present 6 Horse Of The Day to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination and to include an endoscopic examination on Sunday, 25th September 2016. Furthermore, it will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed satisfactory in an official Barrier Trial.
8 Capital Protector (W Smith) –Raced wide until leaving the 800 metres when it obtained a position outside of the leader.
9 Dengcheng One (K K Lai) –Jumped awkwardly. Poor performance. Rider reported that his mount travelled well until the 600 metres, however was immediately under pressure from this point on. He added that in the home straight his mount failed to respond to his riding and failed to finish the race off as expected. He further explained that as the gelding was having its first start since June 2016, in his opinion it would benefit from today’s run.
A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
11 Great China (R Curatolo) – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
12 River Control (L Corrales) –Performed below market expectations. Jockey L Corrales explained that from the wide draw he was forced to race wide with cover. He added the gelding travelled well throughout and when placed under pressure approaching the 400 metres his mount responded well however was one paced over the concluding stages. A swab sample was taken 12 River Control for analysis and a post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
