Race Report

RACE-4 THE GOOD FORTUNE RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1500 METRES (166)

1 Clown Master (B Yamzon) – Disappointing performance. Rider reported that the gelding did not handle today’s track condition and dipped on numerous occasions approaching and passing the 600 metres. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
2 Riches Treasure (L Corrales) – Shortly after the start Jockey L Corrales was struck in the face by an object which placed him at a disadvantage for some distance. For this reason, he explained his mount settled further back than he had anticipated. Jockey L Corrales was examined by the Club’s Medical Officer and passed fit to continue riding.
3 So Happy (D Chong) –Near the 250 metres Jockey D Chong accidentally dropped his right rein before regaining the use of it shortly after.
4 Florence Elite (K W Leong) –Shifted in approaching the 700 metres and had to be steadied when close to the heels of 7 Bowl Lucky.
5 One From Many (W L Ho) –Over raced in the middle stages.
6 The Precious Prime (C F Wong) –Raced wide before obtaining cover near the 600 metres.
7 Bowl Lucky (A Calder) – Performed below market expectations. Rider reported that he had a good run behind the leaders but the gelding did not respond to his urgings in the straight and could offer no real explanation for his mount’s performance today.
8 Magician Code (C Perkins) –When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of 8 Magician Code, Trainer G Allendorf stated that the horse was more suited by today’s track condition than at its previous start.
9 Great River (W T Pao) –Shifted out under hard riding in the straight. Jockey W T Pao was reprimanded and notified he must stop riding and straighten his mounts far sooner than he did on this occasion.
10 Hand By Hand (M Cangas) –Jumped away awkwardly resulting in its rider M Cangas losing the use of his right iron for some distance.
11 All Thrills (K K Lai) –Hard ridden from the barriers, however beaten for pace and settled further back than at its most recent start when it led.
12 Pawmaster (C F Chan) –Struck the outside gate on jumping away and lost ground.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Prior to “Correct Weight” being declared, the Stewards viewed the official film of the start to ascertain whether 4 Florence Elite (K W Leong) was afforded a fair start. It was established that the gelding was being assisted by a barrier attendant as it was restless in its stall and when the start was effected it threw its head up and lost ground (2L). As the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was due to the barrier manners of 4 Florence Elite, it was declared a runner and “Correct Weight” was semaphored.
