Race Report

RACE-5 THE AYR RATING 85-60 (CLASS 2) 1200 METRES (318)

2 Brave Panda (C Perkins) –Raced very keenly in the early stages.
3 Mission Gdragon (W L Ho) –Rider explained that shortly after the start and due to the pace drawn to his inside, he elected to restrain his mount and take up a position closer to the running rail to coincide with his riding instructions. As a result of this, his mount settled further back than anticipated.
6 Master Kabiddi (W H Lao) –A post race veterinary examination of the gelding which was eased out of the race failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Rider was unable to offer any excuses for the poor performance today. Trainers C Marshall/K C Wong were informed that they would be required to present the gelding to the Veterinary Clinic for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 3rd July 2016. In addition, it will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official Barrier Trial.
11 Northern Lightning (C F Chan) –Raced three wide without cover throughout. Cast its right front plate during the run.
12 Easy Thai (K K Lai) -A post race veterinary examination at the request of the rider failed to reveal any significant abnormality.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Jockey R Curatolo the rider of 4 Sweet Korean pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of MJC Rule 132 (i) in that he permitted his mount to shift in near the 1100 metres when insufficiently of 7 Huka Eagle (A Calder) which was tightened for room, lost its rightful running and had to be checked. Jockey Curatolo had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period of two racemeetings to cover the meetings of 16th and 17th July 2016. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account his guilty plea, his careless riding record, the degree of carelessness and the severity of the incident. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
