Race Report

RACE-3 【STAR RIVER．WINDSOR ARCH】CHARITY TROPHY RATING 70-50 (CLASS 3) 1000 METRES (196)

1 Windsor Arch Five (C F Wong) – Cast its right fore plate during the run. Jockey C F Wong the rider of 1 Windsor Arch Five which was the last start winner, explained that he attempted to lead, however was unable to do so and for this reason he gained cover near the 600 metres. He added his mount was not entirely suited to today’s track condition and that also it was one paced to the line.
3 Lovely Boy (B Yamzon) – Jumped away awkwardly. Cast its left front plate during the run. Rider reported that his mount failed to handle the track conditions today.
4 Happy Bunny (H Lam) – Jockey H Lam stated that he thought his mount may have bled and it was making unusual respiratory noises. Trainer S Chow was informed that he would be required to present the horse for an endoscopic examination on Sunday, 20th March 2016.
7 Exceedingly Dragon (W L Ho) –Raced three wide without cover throughout. Disappointing performance. Rider stated that his mount made an unusual respiratory noise and he was of the opinion that it did not handle the heavy conditions today’s although it had won on a heavy track previously. He added that his mount may have not been quite right in its action. A post race veterinary examination confirmed that the gelding was making some respiratory noise. A swab sample was taken for analysis.
8 The Riddle (C Perkins) –Jumped away awkwardly. When improving quickly near the 50 metres had to be shifted out to avoid the heels of 7 Exceedingly Dragon .
10 Sweet Korean (C F Chan) – Resaddled at the barriers. Hung out badly from the 800 metres to 600 metre mark.
11 Golden Champ (J Cordero) –Threw its head up when the gates were released and lost ground (1L). Raced wide without cover from the 600 metres. A post race veterinary examination revealed that it was lame in the left foreleg. Trainer K Seo was informed that the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until a veterinary clearance is produced.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Jockey H Lam the rider of 4 Happy Bunny pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 750 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 8 The Riddle (C Perkins) which lost its rightful running and had to be checked. Jockey H Lam’s licence to ride in races as suspended for a period of two racemeetings, covering the meetings of 25th and 26th of March 2016. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account his guilty plea, his good record, the degree of carelessness and severity of the interference. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
