Race Report
RACE-4 THE MACAU RACE HORSE OWNERS ASSOCIATION CHARITY TROPHY RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1500 METRES (197)

1 Golden Spiritual (B Yamzon) – Cast its left fore plate during the event.
2 Chromium Alloy (H Lam) –Dwelt at the start, threw its head in the air and lost ground (2L). When questioned Jockey H Lam explained that the horse jumped away badly as it’s his habit and he then rode it hard throughout the event, however it never travelled well on the bit at any stage and lacked speed to be in a more forward position. He added that the trainer had instructed him to angle wide in the straight in search of better going as he believed that the inside would have deteriorated by this time, and that his mount then responded well to his riding. He was of the belief that 2 Chromium Alloy was not entirely comfortable in today’s track condition. He further added that it was the intention of the trainer to step 2 Chromium Alloy up in distance and also to remove the head gear from the gelding in an attempt to overcome its barrier manners. Trainer C F Chan confirmed that he would removing the blinkers and hood from the 2 Chromium Alloy in an endeavoiur to get it to jump from the barriers cleanly.
3 Grand Double Win (L Salles) –Near the 1300 metres had to be steadied when placed in restricted room between 4 Horse Of The Day and 1 Golden Spiritual which shifted in. Over raced in the middle stages. Jockey L Salles was fined the sum of HK$1000 for accidentally dropping his whip near the near the 250 metres.
5 Lucky And Healthy (C Perkins) –Was slightly slow to begin. Poor performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. The rider reported that his mount did not handle today’s track conditions.
7 Great China (W L Ho) –Raced three wide without cover throughout the event. Poor performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. The rider reported that his mount did not handle today’s track conditions. He added that the gelding would be better suited over a shorter distance than that of today. Trainer K H Leong was advised that a warning was being placed on 7 Great China for its performance today and should it perform in a similar manner in the future, further action may be taken.
9 One From Many (W H Lao) –Was slow to muster speed. Then commenced to over race after passing the 1400 metres and had to be steadied near the 1200 metres. Rider reported that his mount failed to run on in the straight.
10 My Name Is Bruce (K K Lai) – Near the 1300 metres shifted in and had to be steadied to avoid the heels of 7 Great China which shifted out slightly. Jockey K K Lai was questioned in regards to his riding actions from the 700 metres to the 400 metres and again near the 50 metres, in particular as to why he appeared to become unbalanced, making contact with the saddle on numerous occasions. He explained that his mount had dipped in the going when not handling the heavy track conditions and also races with a low head carriage and for this reason he became unbalanced. The Stewards notified Jockey K K Lai that they deemed his riding action on this occasion to be bordering on being unacceptable and that he must ride all his mounts in a manner that leaves no room for query. Disappointing performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality and a swab sample was taken for analysis.
11 River Treasure (J Cordero) –Approaching the 1200 metres was hampered momentarily by 7 Great China.
